Brake testing unit “BPG Rz 3”

The solution for passenger train brake tests

The Brake testing unit “BPG Rz3” was developed by IP RailEquipment for use on passenger coaches. It enables a complete brake test without a locomotive – safely, efficiently and in a standardized manner for both HL line and HBL performance.

The carriage inspector can carry out the entire braking process easily, reliably and with digital documentation.

Thanks to its compact design, the Brake testing unit “BPG Rz3” can be used flexibly – whether on standard, signal or temporary foundations, without the need for complex civil engineering work.

The device can be purchased or rented, making it ideal for stationary and mobile applications in passenger train operations.

The Brake testing unit “BPG Rz3” is compact and smart.

The Brake testing unit “BPG Rz3” is compact and smart.

  • Only 100 mm wide: suitable for narrow track spacing
  • Guideline: Developed in accordance with “Technical Manual for Brake Testers - TH-BPG-V2.3-2024” by DB InfraGo AG
  • DB approval: The product was approved by DB InfraGo AG on April 1, 2021.
  • The brake test device is used to fill, check, and maintain pressure in all freight or passenger train brakes approved in the UIC area. Using the brake test device means that no locomotive is required for the brake test.
  • Both compressed air lines of a passenger train can be filled in parallel
  • Installation is carried out on a standard small-size signal foundation or mobile on a temporary foundation.
  • A leak test is carried out on both compressed air lines; the leak criterion is 0.3 bar/min.
  • Functions: Fill main line to 5.0 bar, check main line for leaks, max. pressure drop 0.5 bar/min, adjust main line to 5.3 bar, apply brake 4.2 bar, release brake 5.0 bar and maintain pressure 5.0 bar, fill main tank air line to 9.0 bar, check HBL tightness max. pressure drop 0.3 bar/min
  • Easy replacement of old brake test devices possible
