Assembly and testing of railway couplings under real conditions

The coupling test bench developed by IP RailEquipment is designed for the assembly and functional testing of close-coupled and automatic couplings in the railway sector. The system enables precise and reproducible execution of all assembly, testing and functional processes – from pre-assembly to final inspection.

Functional scope and test procedure:

Manual pre-assembly of the close coupling half
Attachment of two or three Durel spring elements
Pressing process at the main operating point with a pressing force of 400 kN
Complete assembly of the coupling half, including pipe connection
100% final inspection with manual checking of relevant coupling dimensions
Pneumatic leak test to detect leaks
Electrical testing of the coupling contacts
Manual rotation of the coupling half on the drive carriage by 90° around the coupling longitudinal axis

The Coupling test bench combines mechanical precision, pneumatic control and electrical function testing in a compact, industrial-grade system. This ensures complete quality and functional assurance for every coupling – from individual tests to series testing.
